The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for identifying and documenting business requirements for projects or programs, and ensuring that they align with the organization's goals and objectives. The Senior Business Analyst works closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into functional requirements that can be implemented by the development team. They also provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts and help to develop the business analysis practice within the organization.

Job responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify and prioritize business needs and requirements, and ensure they are reflected in project or program objectives.
  • Conduct detailed requirements elicitation, documentation, and validation activities, including use case development, process mapping, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with project or program managers, architects, developers, and testers to ensure that requirements are fully understood and implemented correctly.
  • Ensure that requirements are documented in a clear, concise, and consistent manner, and that they align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including testing, defect management, and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts, and contribute to the development of the business analysis practice within the organization.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of business processes, industry trends, and technology advancements to inform requirements gathering and solution design.
  • Provide input into project or program planning, including estimation, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure that requirements are implemented according to specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure that requirements are understood and accepted.
  • Provide regular status updates on requirements gathering and documentation activities to project or program stakeholders.
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, with a focus on requirements elicitation, documentation, and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of business analysis techniques and methodologies, including use case development, process mapping, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of project and program management methodologies.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (e.g. healthcare, finance) is a plus.
