We are looking for a Database Architect / Database Engineer to support the design, development, migration, and optimization of the data layer of CEC’s digital ecosystem.
The role will focus on the data platform, database architecture, migration toolkit, and database performance, ensuring that data is structured, secure, reliable, and efficiently accessible across the ecosystem.
The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, architects, and other technical stakeholders to design robust database solutions and support the migration of existing data into the new platform.

You are an experienced Database Architect or Database Engineer with strong hands-on experience in database design, data migration, and performance optimization. You are comfortable working with complex data environments and can balance architectural requirements with practical implementation needs.
You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are able to work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a complex, large-scale digital transformation environment.

• Design and maintain database architecture for the CEC digital ecosystem. 
• Define database structures, schemas, relationships, indexes, and data models. 
• Support the development and evolution of the data platform. 
• Design and implement data migration strategies and migration toolkits. 
• Analyze existing databases and prepare them for migration to the target platform. 
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools for data extraction, transformation, validation, and migration. 
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and quality throughout migration processes. 
• Monitor and optimize database performance, including queries, indexes, storage, and resource utilization. 
• Identify performance bottlenecks and implement appropriate optimization solutions. 
• Establish database development and operational standards and best practices. 
• Collaborate with Solution Architects, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and external vendors. 
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex database and data-related issues. 
• Ensure databases meet required security, availability, scalability, and reliability standards. 
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation related to database architecture, migration, and performance. 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Database Engineering, Database Architecture, or a similar role.
• Strong experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Proven experience in database design, data modeling, and optimization.
• Hands-on experience with data migration projects and migration tools.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data transformation.
• Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Understanding of database security, backup/recovery, availability, and scalability.
• Experience working as part of cross-functional technical teams.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
• Experience in government, judicial, public-sector, or other highly regulated environments is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud databases or modern data platforms is a plus.
• Knowledge of data integration and interoperability is an advantage.
