About You

The Data and Migration Architect will be responsible for defining and structuring the data architecture required to support the UniCourt integration and digital transformation of judicial data. 

The role will focus on understanding existing data structures, designing a unified target data model, defining data mapping and migration approaches, and establishing data quality and governance standards. The Data Architect will work closely with Business Analysts, Legal Experts, technical teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that the target data structure supports both business requirements and legal/compliance needs. 

The ideal candidate is an analytical and technically strong data professional with experience designing data architectures and models across complex systems. They should be comfortable working with legacy systems, data integration, migration, data quality, and governance, while also being able to translate business and regulatory requirements into sustainable data structures.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes existing systems to identify and document their current data models.
  • Designs the unified target data structure for UniCourt (judicial case entities, parties, hearings, documents, etc.).
  • Defines data mapping between existing systems and the new unified structure.
  • Defines data migration rules, profiling, reconciliation, archiving, and data-quality controls.
  • Ensures the data structure supports the Business Analyst's use cases and the Legal.
  • Expert's compliance needs.
  • Establishes data governance principles and long-term data strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. 
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Engineer, Solution Architect, or in a similar data-focused role. 
  • Strong experience in data modelling and data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models. 
  • Experience analysing and documenting existing/legacy data structures and systems
  • Strong understanding of data integration, data mapping, migration, and transformation
  • Experience defining and implementing data quality, profiling, validation, and reconciliation processes. 
  • Experience with data governance, data standards, metadata, and data lifecycle management
  • Ability to design scalable and maintainable target data structures based on complex business requirements. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Business Analysts, Legal Experts, developers, technical architects, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to translate business and compliance requirements into data architecture and modelling decisions
  • Strong documentation and communication skills. 
  • Experience with relevant data modelling and database tools.  

Desirable 

  • Experience working with government, public-sector, judicial, or legal data
  • Experience with court case management systems, judicial data, or digital justice platforms
  • Experience designing data models involving cases, parties, hearings, documents, charges, dispositions, and related judicial entities
  • Experience with large-scale data migration or system consolidation projects
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data integration technologies
  • Experience establishing or improving enterprise data governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements relevant to sensitive government or judicial data. 
  • Experience working with external technology vendors or multidisciplinary digital transformation teams.
