On May 12, at the “Engineering City,” the next meeting of the cybersecurity awareness campaign took place, attended by around 200 students, teachers, and parents. The aim of the campaign is to foster more secure and responsible online behavior among both schoolchildren and adults.
The event commenced in an already traditional interactive format: students, through a dedicated application, answered questions related to cybersecurity, potential cyberattacks, and online risks, and shared their own perceptions.
The First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Gevorg Mantashyan, expressing gratitude to the participants for their engagement and interest, emphasized the importance of recognizing digital threats and developing the skills to protect against them. He noted that although people encounter cyber risks on a daily basis, they often underestimate their real impact; therefore, in order to ensure a secure digital environment, it is necessary to cultivate responsible online behavior from an early age.
Addressing the current challenges of the field, the First Deputy Minister presented the risks and advantages of the use of artificial intelligence, the impact of “deepfakes,” and the toolkit for combating disinformation.
The AM-CERT team of the ISAA presented informational materials on cyber hygiene and safe online behavior, with particular attention to password security. In order to reinforce the acquired knowledge, group activities were organized for the students, within the framework of which methods of protection against “phishing” attacks were discussed.
During the meeting, the most common cyberattacks and threats were discussed. Information security expert Samvel Martirosyan delivered in-depth clarifications, presenting effective tools for proper response and protection in such situations.
Concluding his remarks, the First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, requiring the vigilance and competent engagement of everyone.
The initiative is carried out in cooperation between the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and the Information Systems Agency of Armenia.
